Does anyone get this recorded call on their answering machine?

They have been calling me every day with this recorded message and a phone # to call. So far I've been able to track the phone # down to collection agency that tries to rip people off.

If I call the number it's the voice of a woman asking for a name and number to be left on voice mail.

From my process of thought in my mind, they leave the message on your phone hoping you call them and leave your information. So then they can start to fuck you over.

The number they leave is 866-350-8346.

Anyone know anything about this phishing scheme and how to stop it?

also - if you're on the Do Not Call registry, you can report them that way and they'll also get mega-fined if found guilty.

Well I won't leave a message with my contact info on their number so I'm not sure. But a search by phone # brings up a like on a ripoff site.

Other than reporting it, no.

The string I had (for several years, if you'll recall) left a name saying "This is an important message for _______, please call us immediately." I got a recording with that one too, but kept leaving recordings that said "you have the wrong number, ______ does not live at this address and never does. Please check the number and try your call again." After a couple of weeks I got a new number, and an actual person, and they determined it was a collection on an account that had put that number down about ten years previously. But that last number led to a legal office.

I have also found, though, that just about anything that has to do with collections ends up on www.ripoffreport.com because people don't want to pay what they owe, and shriek and wail because they are actually being forced to pay what they owe by the contract they signed.
